Luke 17: 7- 10
Okay, on a serious note, this is pretty useful for cell group helpers, amour bearers & anyone who simply wants to serve God and people.
When I read this few verses on NKJV, I didn't understand it.. So I decided to read on another version of the Bible... The NCV( New Century Version). It's so much clearer now!
So this topic I'm covering will be named.. "Serving God with an intention as a privilege"
According to NCV, in Luke 17: 7 - 10;
Jesus speaking;
7 "Suppose one of you has been plowing the ground or caring for the sheep. When the servant comes in from working in the field, would you say, 'Come in and sit down to eat?'
8 No, you would say to him, 'Prepare something for me to eat. Then get yourself ready and serve me. After I finish eating and drinking, you can eat.'
9 The servant does not get any special thanks for doing what his master commanded.
10 It is the same with you. When you have done everything you are told to do, you should have say, 'We are unworthy servants; we have only done the work we should do.' "
Now, think about it... How often we demand from God whenever we thought we have done so much for Him. If God has this mindset, then we're all in deep trouble. For the wages of sin is dead, so God would have us died by then. Would you rather die than live? =p
I'm not saying that we must be have the mindset that we aren't unworthy of God's love and we musn't serve Him. Then you're not getting the big picture. Jesus taught us this so that we won't warrant unnecessary self-esteem and full of ourselves when we serve Him.
Remember, obedience is a duty. Just like in an army, if you don't obey your CO(commanding officer) in a war/battle, they had a right to kill you. God don't really want your 'burnt offerings', He wants your complete obedience from all of us here.
God called us to be a witness & servant. Not to be a judge.
Think about it!
